the photoshooter's journey from taking to making

WESTWARD ON A WING

Of the twenty-five years I’ve just completed in Arizona (as of May 2024), only the last five years have found me jumping into bird work with both feet. I must credit my birdwatcher wife for yet another case of her own sensitivity feeding my own, as she has transmitted her own excitement for all things winged to me at the exact moment I was beginning to get some small sense of how to capture this amazing world. Between Arizona and our new home in California, the variety of species, both native and migratory, is simply staggering.
